  • the best management techniques
  • the finest craftsmanship
  • the most competitive bidding and pricing strategies regardless of labor affiliation

We are the construction industry leader who is committed to developing a safe workplace and a high-performance workforce through quality education and training.

    OUR HISTORY

ABC was founded in 1950 when seven contractors gathered in Baltimore, Md. to create an association based on the shared belief that construction projects should be awarded on merit to the most qualified and responsible low bidders. Their courage and dedication to the merit shop philosophy spread rapidly, and within time, ABC became the fastest-growing association in the United States. Today, ABC is recognized as one of the leading organizations representing America's business community and the U.S. construction industry.

ABC's Western Colorado Chapter was founded in 1990 under the premise that Western Colorado had a need for a skilled and professional workforce for the construction industry. As such we determined to train the craftsmen of the future by providing a DOL certified craft and apprentice training program. From these roots, we have expanded to serve craft training, safety, and management classes, legislative advocacy, networking opportunities, peer groups, and numerous community service projects.

    THE MERIT SHOP PHILOSOPHY

A Merit Shop contractor is one who bids and wins work based on proven performance and price; who hires and rewards an employee based on his ability and desire to perform; who works with other contractors to deliver the quality product the owner wants within budget and on schedule.
